Misconduct by Penelope Douglas

misconductlabelThere are so many elements to Penelope Douglas’ newest release, Misconduct, that I absolutely loved I don’t even know where to begin.

I get so excited when PenD releases a new book, I just about can not stand it. She is without a doubt one of my favorite authors in the book world. But when I find out she’s writing something with so many lovable moving parts- my excitement grows even more. And it’s one I can’t really find anywhere in life–that excitement; a satisfaction I’ve grown to appreciate from her written words. So much so, I can’t wait to go back for more.

Misconduct feels just like it was written for me personally. Novels with political storylines make me giddy because they’re usually not so not simple or cut and dry. Then mix in the fact it’s set in New Orleans, one of my favorite places AND the combination of the teacher element and you’ve just written a book with every plot line/setting I will 1-click without hesitation. That’s EVERY SINGLE thing I love and look for when I’m choosing my next read. Another favorite attribute of PenD’s writing I love is that it’s never trite. There’s always this level of complexity to the story that keeps me guessing. With all this greatness mixed in with an alpha male dealing with forbidden love– there’s no turning your back on this read. Not only does she know how to hook her audience with steamy love affairs, she keeps them turning the page by adding these true to life situations which make this story so fascinating to its reader. These main characters struggle with every day issues we all face and that makes it easy to relate to. Easton and Tyler’s relationship contains so much angst and wit, it makes Misconduct hard to put down.

PenD continues to keep her queen of angst title with me as Misconduct kept me up reading way past bedtime and created such an engaging story my reading binge was over more quickly than I was ready for. After finishing each chapter of this book, my stomach dropped knowing I was one page closer to its closing and I wasn’t ready to let go of these characters just yet.

The female lead, Easton, is real and relatable. She’s sure to resonate with an audience who needed to read her story. And she represents a small part in all of us females. Douglas always succeeds in writing strong female leads and Easton is exactly that, even with the demons she has to overcome.

It never fails that PenD will write a book I will want to read time and time again. Misconduct is no exception to that rule. It wouldn’t hurt my feelings if this became more than just a stand alone. It was so enjoyable, I’ve already gifted a copy to a fellow fan. Pick it up, you won’t regret this 1-click!
